Sora Lui here at the District Courthouse, reporting live...sort of. The trial that is about to take place is a shock to all of us - a murder! Between close friends, no less. Chihiro Wu, the young, up and coming fashion designer, is on trial for murder at the Hilton. It was quite a shock when she was arrested, as she was there to attend a party celebrating her own success! What a pity that one that might have succeeded is now in such a predicament.
The judge presiding over the trial will be Justice Shao-lin Lauricella, who will be hard-pressed to make her verdict today, seeing as she herself is closely involved in this case.
The executive prosecutor on this case is Keii Lee. Seeing as this is the first case he is directly involved in, all eyes are on him today.
The defense will be represented by Kasai Chi. A defense attorney with a few cases under his belt, we'll have to see how well he fares, seeing as the evidence is against his client in this case.
The trial is just starting now. Let's head into the courthouse to hear the opening statements...

The trial of Chihiro Wu is now in session.
The defense is ready, Your Honor.
The prosecution is ready, Your Honor.
Mr. Lee, your opening statement, please.
...
Mr. Lee.
Sorry, Your Honor. ...The prosecution has enough evidence to believe that the defendant, Chihiro Wu, murdered Shiki Bai the night of March 26th, 2007. During this trial, that evidence - and a motive - will be presented to convict the defendant. That is all.
Does the defense have anything to add?
No, Your Honor.
Very well. The prosecution may bring in the first witness.
[ the bailiff brings in the first witness ]
Witness, state your name and profession.
My name is Aizaku Chuang. I am an investigator at Criminal Affairs, Homicide Department.
Testify to us about the night of the murder, Investigator.
The night of the murder, a party at the Hilton Hotel was being held for the defendant, Ms. Wu. Because I was attending the party, when the victim's body was discovered I was able to arrest a suspect right away. The party was held on the third floor. The victim was pushed off the balcony and fell to his death. He suffered a broken neck, fractured skull, and bruisings. The autopsy showed death was instantaneous.
Here's the autopsy report, Your Honor.
I see. Mr. Chi, you may begin your cross-examination.
[ stands ] Mr. Chuang, why was there a party being held for Ms. Wu?
Due to her recent successes in the fashion industry, her friends planned and threw her a party to commemorate her prowess.
So, in your opinion, does it seem likely that Ms. Wu would murder one of her friends on the verge of her successful career?
( Yeah, sorry, Zak gets the first objection. And his angry face is rather bad, isn't it? T_T )
Your Honor, we're not in court to hear any opinions. We need cold, hard proof. Mr. Chi, do you have proof she didn't do it?
...
I didn't think so. Continue.
[ sigh ] when did this murder take place?
Around eleven PM, sir.
And Mr. Bai was pushed?
That is my belief.
Could he not have committed suicide? Jumped himself, perhaps?
This is a possibility!
( I know, yet again, Zak has another objection; but at least he's not as nasty as von Karma, right? *pause* well, maybe...just kidding! )
What's this?
I have evidence he was pushed. Drez, bring it out to the court.
[ presents the handprint on Shiki's tuxedo ]
Mr. Lee, please explain!
This handprint was found on Mr. Bai's tuxedo. It stood out because there had been wine spilled on him.
Oh? Who spilled it?
...Me, Your Honor.
( he's supposed to be looking embarrassed here )
YOU were at the party?
um, yes.
Fascinating! Please continue.
[ cough ] There were no fingerprints we could discern from the print, but Ms. Wu was wearing gloves at the time of the party. The print is so well-defined it could only have been caused by a strong impact.
Hmm, this certainly is decisive.
This proves nothing. There could've been another person at the crime scene.
Do you have evidence there was?
Do you?

: . . .
Let's just continue. Mr. Chi, do you have any further questions?
A few. Investigator, why were you so sure that Ms. Wu was the murderer when you arrested her that night?
What is it this time, K - I mean, Mr. Lee?
Your Honor, the next witness will sufficiently answer this question.
Very well. Court will take a short recess. We will reconvene to hear this witness's testimony in ten minutes.
( XD Thanks Ada for the date of the murder. Yeah I know Zak is overly cool, but it's...not really him, okay? -_- Drez is Steven. If you people have any objections - hehe - to me using your last names in the post, PM me. Oh and Maggie tell me if you have anything to add. XD I find it amusing that I did most of this in fifth period Spanish )
(EDIT: I really BS'ed something, so er. I'll fix it later. *runs off to study for Algebra 2 Honors)
(EDIT 2: XD Did you notice that every other post, Isaac's eyes open and close? Yeah. I am amused. *cough* anyway, I fixed it, sort of?)
