WELL! It seems that our dear little board is dying once again...
Nothing much to report here except that Mirror Mirror has gotten a slight update! (Yeah no one cares)
Well once again it seems this week will simple feature the Gay Game!
Ok, time to get serious. This game I'm about to show you is honestly one of my favorite games of all time, but it's also one of the few games I love that I have NEVER been able to finish. It's an RPG Maker game, yes it's free, yes it's been made in someone's free time, but in all honesty if any commercial game development company took this game and remade it for any console it would be a huge success. I now present to you:
THE WAY
Storyline 10/10: A BIG BIG BIG BIG part of what makes me love this game is its storyline. Now this is gonna sound odd especially coming from me, but The Way features an extremely deep and thought provoking storyline. Each episode you play through ends in a way that makes you NEED to continue. As you follow Rhue through his journey you find yourself being sucked deeper into the world of The Way and into the minds of the characters. This game definitely features THE BEST storyline in an indy game that I have ever played.
Gameplay 9.5/10: The Way is an RPG Maker game and as such it is limited a bit in this area. Don't let it pull you down however, The Way combines the classic turn-based RPG battle system you have come to know and love, with a unique twist. Battles are turn based and rely on skills and all that, but what sets it apart are the Auras and the Flows. These basically act as you "classes" or "jobs."
Throughout the game Rhue will gain new Auras and Flows. As you level up each different Aura and Flow your attributes and skills change. You may also share certain skills in between each Aura, but with others you may not. Yes it sounds a bit confusing, but trust me as you go through it you'll adapt in no time.
This game also features a custom battle system known as "The Plunge." It's basically a special duel between you and one other "human" enemy. It works a bit like rock paper scissors in that you have three basic attacks to choose from, each one with an advantage over the other. However it also factors in Blade Arts. These are special skills usable only in a Plunge and can either inflict large amounts of damage on your enemy or heal you among other things.
The game also features tons of mini-games and puzzles that can be skipped, but if played through grant you additional stats, items, and sometimes skills.
The gameplay loses .5 because quite frankly I'm not a huge fan of turnbase...
Graphics 7/10: Again because this game uses RPG Maker it suffers a bit in the graphics department. The characters all have custom facesets and custom sprites which are pretty pleasing to the eye, but of course they're only going to be GBA quality at best. However, despite it's lack in character graphics The Way features stunning original backgrounds that are just too dang pretty to look at.
Soundtrack 8/10: I'm unsure if the game features a totally original soundtrack or not, but dang it all if listening to it at times doesn't bring a tear to my eye!
Overall 10/10: GET IT NAO! If anyone here honestly doesn't even CONSIDER d/ling this game I will not only feel sad, but I will also feel ANGRY!

*Recommend saving it on your own notepad as it's hosted on geocities which is teh suxorz, and plus this game has been out for a long time, you never know when it's gonna simply disappear.
