I was listening to this song and I couldn't think of a better title. D: Don't shoot me. XP
~~~~~D:~~~~~
"Kyousei, look! A shooting star." Kata pointed lazily at the midnight black sky. She let her arm fall back to her side onto the grass. She turned her head to see Kyousei. They were both laying on the soft grass of a field, looking at the stars.
"Makes a wish," Kyousei whispered in her ear, as if afraid to break the silence. Kata smiled warmly and squeezed her eyes shut in deep concentration.
She opened her eyes slowly and glanced over at Kyousei. He noticed this and smirked.
"What did you wish for?" Kata asked, curiousity getting the better of her.
"I can't tell you that," he said, turning his head over to look at her. Kata bit her lip; a sudden breeze passed by and she shivered. She let out a gasp as she felt Kyousei's arms wrap around her shoulders. She felt a smile spread across her face.
"So what did you wish for?" he said after a while.
"I can't tell you either. It won't come true if I do." She giggled innocently.
Minutes passed and the sky grew lighter. Kata groggily stood up and brushed off the grass clinging to her. Kyousei followed the suit and ruffled his already messy bangs. Kata stared over at him. A serene smile graced his face and his bangs were messy in the perfect way. His eyes were such a deep, pure green that seemed to glow in the early morning ligh-
"Are you okay?" Kyousei frowned in an adorable fashion. Kata felt herself blush.
"Where are these thoughts coming from?" she thought. She wanted to melt under his stare.
"It's just a little cold out here," she quickly lied.
"You should probably go home now," Kyousei said, concern laced in his voice. Kata was rather relieved. She didn't trust herself alone with him. She turned around and started to her house but was suddenly stopped. Kyousei had grabbed her hand, stopping her from walking away.
"K-Kata...there's something I've been meaning to say to you all night," he managed to say. Kata eyes widened in surprise.
"You see. The truth is..." Kyousei started, "I really like you."
"Well, I should hope so! We've been friends for over eight years," Kata exclaimed in a exasperated tone.
"No! Not that way," Kyousei said hastily. He rubbed his temples in exasperation, but couldn't help but smile fondly at her naiveity. Her head was cocked to the side, not comprehending what he was trying to get across. Her face, pale and smooth, shone in the faint light. Her radiant emerald eyes reflected her happiness and adorable confusion. And her lips...
On impulse, Kyousei gentely grabbed Kata's shoulders and pressed his face againts hers in a passionate kiss. Kata, surprised at his sudden move, nearly fainted.
After a while, their lips parted and Kyousei ackwardly released his grip on her.
"T-that's what I meant," he stammered. Kata, still in a daze, just looked at the ground.
After a long moment of silence, Kyousei turned around and headed for his own house. But before he could go any further, Kata grabbed his arm. Before he could ask, she kissed him softly on the cheek and sped off in the direction of her house.
~~~~~X3~~~~~
Kata's tears flowed freely down her face.
"Why are you doing this?" she asked softly. Kyousei couldn't bring himself to look at her straight in the eye. His heart was aching for seeing her so hurt and knowing that he was the cause of it.
"You're going to fight for...Ater? You're going to support the killings, the monsters, the loss of innocent men?" she asked, voice trembling. He wanted to respond to her but couldn't find the words.
"What have you become?" Kata asked bitterly. She brushed past him and ran off. Kyousei looked blankly across the field.
~~~~~X3~~~~~
Kata watched her younger self ran away from the younger version of Kyousei. She choked back a sob when she realized she was seeing a replay of her past.
"She really isn't coming back," the young Kyousei said aloud. He didn't try to mask the grief on his face. He turned back and finish strapping his items to his horse.
Kata watched him slowly put the last of the items onto his steed. Now, streams of tears were falling down her cheeks. With a sigh, the young Kyousei lifted himself onto his horse. He wistfully looked back in the direction where her younger self had ran off. A single tear rolled down his face and rode off.
Kata couldn't bear it anymore. She turned around and ran. She ran until her legs collapsed. She buried her head in her hands and tried to stifle back the uncoming tears.
